We recognise however that not all of these features are applicable at all courses and importantly have provided the ability to selectively enable or disable options on a per-computer basis to suit various methods of operation.
Some clubs have no interest in allowing members to enter their own scores.
Members and guests can interact with the GCS golf management systems via one or more touch screen terminals located in publicly accessible areas of the clubhouse or environs. We've developed a software application that provides a variety of features that members and guests can interact with directly. We've called the application TSE... an acronym for touch screen entry.
We recognise however that not all of these features are applicable at all courses and importantly have provided the ability to selectively enable or disable options on a per-computer basis to suit various methods of operation. Some clubs have no interest in allowing members to enter their own scores for example, while others embrace it wholeheartedly.
While touch-screen technology is not mandatory, (the application can be accessed via mouse) presenting only a touch screen ensures that no one can maliciously tamper with the computer system from a public terminal (without access to a mouse and keyboard) and that the usability of the system is maximised. Acceptance of the touch screen interface by members has been excellent.
Visitor logon via the touch screen terminal can be by card swipe or input of the visitor's GOLFLink number. This will immediately retrieve the player's details from the GOLFLink database, ensuring that name, handicap, home club, gender and golf union ID are correctly recorded in the club's database. Visitors can join into competition events in the same manner that members can do so, provided that the event is open to visitor entry. Visitors can also enter scores into the touch screen in the same manner that a member is able to do so.
As the Australian handicapping system progressively evolves to the USGA model, visitors will have a greater need to interact with the club database in order to get their Course Handicap on the day of play. This feature will see touch screen kiosks play an ever increasing role in the management of competitions and visitor entry.
